Goto is dotted with superlative beaches. The contrast between their white sands and cobalt-blue is impressive and stunning. There are of course beaches where you can swim in the sea, but there are also lots of activities for you to get involved in, including SUP, sea kayaking, and diving! This feature introduces fun in the seas of Goto for children and adults alike.

Nine beaches
If you want to enjoy Goto’s best beaches, then head to the swimming beaches!
Here, we introduce Goto’s representative beaches, including a beach said to be one of the most beautiful in Japan. Look forward to beaches with unspoiled nature, unique to Goto!
1.Takahama Beach
This swimming beach is used to represent Goto.
The contrast between its white sands and wonderfully clear cobalt-blue waters is so stunning, visitors can’t help but gasp. This beach, loved by tourists and locals alike, is also a spot to visit in the off-season, too.
2. Tontomari Beach
This hidden gem of a beach stretches out next to the cape by Takahama Beach. The seemingly endless shallow sea is almost like a natural pool, where you can enjoy a leisurely dip. Thanks to the gentle waves, it is perfect for playing in the sand and you can bring children here with peace of mind.
3.Kojushi Beach
Located around 20 minutes’ drive from Fukue Port, this popular beach is easily accessible from the city. It also has an eatery. The stores selling souvenirs mean you can enjoy this beach even outside the swimming season.

4. Tarojima Beach
This artificial swimming beach is located in Sansan Tomie Camp Village. You can join in a variety of activities in the facility grounds, so we recommend this for summer leisure for families.

6. Shutogashima Beach
This quiet beach has around 500 meters of pebbles. It is next to Senjojiki, a scenic site used to represent Naru.

7. Koura Beach
This beach forms a small bay and is characterized by its gentle waves. It isn't only a swimming beach—you can also enjoy canoeing experiences here. *Booking required for canoeing experience

8. Mukata Beach
This swimming beach is located the closest to the city. Its waters are wonderfully clear, so you may even see small fish swimming around. It’s perfect for playing in the sand or swimming with small children.

9. Hamada Beach
This beautiful white sandy beach seems to suddenly appear on the black Lava Coast. Its shallowness and gentle waves mean you can bring small children here with peace of mind.

Snorkeling
These beautiful, calm seas are also safe for children. You can encounter lots of different fish and corals just by going underwater a little, including shoals of clownfish or slender sprats! You can snorkel even if you can’t swim, meaning you can have fun based on your level, from the shallow areas to deep places.
SUP
SUP experiences are offered on the wide and shallow Ohama Beach, with its gentle waves. Careful guidance is provided by experienced instructors, so even beginners can participate with peace of mind. You can borrow the SUP equipment and clothing, plus a snorkeling set, free of charge.
Fun on the seashore
Search for creatures living on the seashore, including hermit crabs, shrimp, and shellfish, on shallow beaches with gentle waves and in tide pools on the seashore! You might discover lots of marine creatures on the shore when the tide is out. You can also look for shells in the sand.
Glass-bottomed boat
Visit Takenoko Island, designated as a Japanese marine park, on a semi-submersible glass-bottomed boat. This area boasts incredibly clear waters, in which you can enjoy the beautiful sights of coral on the seabed, tropical fish, and seaweed.
Sea kayaking
You can move around freely in a sea kayak—get in and head out on the water.
Kayakers can enjoy the natural world to the utmost, including the dynamic topography of the island and the sight of the seabed though the clear waters. Enjoy views only visible from the sea.
Scuba diving
Goto offers everything from diving experiences for beginners to fun dives for experienced divers. With colorful fish, coral, and more, there’s plenty to see! You may even encounter schools of horse mackerel or Japanese amberjack.
